The Soldiery Games & Cards Updates Hours and Availability
To our valued patrons:
In the interest of maintaining safety for our staff, we will be CLOSED on MONDAYS beginning today, May 11th. This will enable us to schedule fewer shifts and allow our dedicated employees to shelter at home more frequently.
Our hours of operation are now officially 12pm to 7pm Tuesday through Sunday.
However, we do have some good news! Beginning Friday, May 15th, we will reopen the store to customers! That’s right, just in time for the release of Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths, shoppers will be able to come into the store during our regular business hours.
Of course, this does come with a few caveats:
In order to maintain proper social distancing, the maximum number of shoppers allowed in the store at one time will be 10.
Everyone entering the store will be required to wear a mask. If you cannot or will not wear one for any reason, we will happily offer curbside service to you. Given the small confines of the premises, though, we will be adhering stringently to CDC and ODH guidelines on this matter.
We are instituting a number of changes to protect the safety of employees and patrons, such as one-way aisles, limited-touch transactions, sanitation stations, and restrictions on the number of people in any one section of the store.
Until further notice we will NOT be accepting cash. However, we ARE accepting store-credit tokens and gift certificates. As usual, we will not give change for tokens. Additionally, gift certificates must be spent to their FULL AMOUNT. While we encourage the redemption of all forms of store credit, we are taking steps to reduce risk for our employees.
We will continue to offer curbside service only Tuesday through Thursday of this week. And of course, you may still call and request curbside once we open to walk-in business.
We want to thank everyone for their loyalty and their understanding through these strange and difficult times. We’re looking forward to seeing you again on Friday, the 15th.
Best regards, The Soldiery Games & Cards Team
Statement on Extending Closure 4-8-20
To our valued patrons:
We at The Soldiery Games & Cards had been hoping we would be able to resume operations beginning April 15. However, as you know, Governor DeWine extended Ohio’s stay-at-home order through May 1. To comply with the order and to preserve the health and safety of our employees and customers, we will therefore be extending our closure until at least May 2. Hopefully, the pandemic will have resolved to a point where resumption of normal sales can occur at that time.
For our Magic customers, at present Wizards of the Coast intends for Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths to be on sale beginning May 15. Assuming we will be able to be open, there should be little impact on the sale of this product. We will begin taking preorders for booster boxes and Commander decks, beginning Friday, April 24. Until we’re able to open for regular business, all reservations will be handled electronically. We’ll have information on how to reserve boxes and displays the week of the 24th.
If the stay-at-home order is extended past May 1 and impacts the on-sale date, we will make plans for minimal-contact, curbside fulfillment of preorders, so those who have reserved product will be able to receive it. More information will be available as the situation develops.
As always, we thank you for your continued patronage and your understanding during these difficult times. We look forward to seeing you back in the store, playing games and shopping, as soon as this crisis passes.
Be safe, The Soldiery Games & Cards Management Team
The Soldiery Games & Cards to Close Temporarily in Response to COVID-19
To our valued patrons:
The management team at The Soldiery Games & Cards has been monitoring the continued progress of the COVID-19 pandemic and the various government agencies’ recommended responses. In light of this still-developing situation, we have elected to temporarily close for business, effective tonight at 9pm. Our curbside shopping service will be available until 9pm but will then also be suspended.
At present, we hope to reopen Wednesday, April 15. Should that change, we’ll make a further announcement.
Throughout this process, our principal concern has been the health and safety of our staff and you, our customers. While we recognize how valuable our products are at a time when people are being asked to shelter themselves, we have to place public health first. With that in mind, we do not wish to cause further risk to our hard-working employees or our shoppers.
Our staffers will be paid their regular wages during the closure so that they will not suffer as a result of the store not being open. We are committed to reducing the impact of these uncertain times as much as possible on our community.
As always, we thank you for your continued patronage and your loyalty over the years. We will be back. Please watch our Facebook page for further developments.
Best regards and see you soon, The Soldiery Games & Cards Management Team
Statement Regarding Curbside Service 3-17-20
To Our Valued Patrons:
As the response to the COVID-19 pandemic continues to change, we are making alterations to our policies to maintain best practices for public health concerns. The Soldiery Games & Cards will now offer phone/cu rbside shopping.
If you prefer not to come in and shop but still need games to ride out the storm, you can call us at 614-267-1957 or 614-687-6100. Let us know what you would like, we’ll pull it for you, and quote you a price. Then you can pay over the phone with your credit or debit card. We’ll hold the product for you until you arrive. At your choice, you can either come in to collect it or have one of our employees deliver it to your vehicle.
We will fulfill Magic singles lists. Call the store and let us know you have a list. We’ll give you instructions on how to email the list to the store. One of our employees will pull and price the cards, then call you with a total. You’ll be able to pay over the phone, and then we’ll either deliver the purchase to your vehicle or you can come in. Unless you specifically instruct us otherwise, we will pull the least-expensive printing we have available. Note that some cards may be unavailable in the cheapest printing or at all.
Because this is an over-the-phone service, we cannot accept store-credit tokens for curbside service purchases. We will accept them for regular walk-in business.
As a reminder, our adjusted hours of operation are:
As always, our entire staff appreciates your continued support during these difficult times. The Soldiery Games & Cards will continue to fulfill your gaming needs for as long as it is feasible to do so. And of course, we will keep monitoring the situation and adjust our policies as appropriate. Please watch our Facebook page for further updates.
In response to the rapidly evolving situation with the COVID-19 pandemic, we will be adjusting our hours accordingly. Beginning Tuesday, March 17, our hours of operation will be as follows:
If things worsen, we may have to adjust these hours further. Please watch our Facebook page for updates.
As a reminder, The Soldiery Games & Cards has suspended ALL of our in-store events, effective TODAY. This includes walk-in casual play. Thus, no one will be allowed to play a game in the store until such time as this crisis passes. We regret the inconvenience and disruption to your schedule this may cause. We simply feel it is in the best interest of public health to reduce the opportunity for infection where we can.
We want to assure our customers that we have plans in place to support and care for our employees. None of our staff will be at financial risk as a result of our response to this developing crisis.
We appreciate your understanding on these matters and value your continued patronage.
Thank you, The Soldiery Games & Cards Management Team
The Soldiery Games & Cards Statement Regarding COVID-19
March 13, 2020
To our valued patrons:
As you are aware, the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, has had a major impact on life in Ohio, around the country, and across the world. We at The Soldiery Games & Cards have been monitoring the situation closely ever since the outbreak in Wuhan, China. The response to the pandemic is now developing on a day-to-day basis, and we are watching to see what is the best course of action as things evolve.
In light of the governor ordering K-12 schools to suspend classes for three weeks and the Ohio Department of Health recommending social distancing, we have elected to suspend until further notice all of our regular events and casual gaming, beginning Monday, March 16. While the state’s limit on gatherings is 100 people and our events fall well below that threshold, we feel it best to err on the side of caution and promote social welfare by “flattening the curve” for infection.
As of now, the store remains open for business during regular hours. As the situation develops we may adjust hours or service. For the time being, we will continue to provide the excellent shopping experience you’ve come to expect.
To help facilitate a safe and sanitary visit to the store, we have instituted the following policies:
We have removed all tablecloths from the tables to eliminate any possible risk of pathogens gathering on the fabric and being communicated to patrons.
We have increased the frequency of our daily cleaning and disinfecting of hard surfaces. This includes wiping down the tables with disinfectant multiple times per day on a regular schedule and after we close the store for the night. We are also disinfecting our sales counter frequently.
All of our employees have been instructed in proper sanitation and disease prevention to help create a safe environment.
We have instituted a policy enabling them to stay home if they develop symptoms.
For events running this weekend, we ask players to engage in the following practices:
Wash your hands thoroughly for at least 20 seconds every time you …
Use the restroom
Sneeze or cough
Avoid touching your mouth, nose, eyes, or hair with unwashed hands
Cough or sneeze into a tissue and then throw the tissue away.
If a tissue isn’t available, cough or sneeze into the crook of your elbow to avoid getting respiratory droplets (the primary way the disease spreads) onto your hands or another person.
Refrain from touching your opponents’ cards or pieces.
If you need to read a card to see what it does, ask the other player to put it front of you and then read it without touching it.
Better, have them read the effect to you themselves.
If the game involves you “taking” another player’s piece from the board or moving it, ask them to do it themselves.
By limiting the amount of physical interaction with others’ bodies and property, the risk of cross-contamination is greatly reduced.
As always, The Soldiery Games & Cards is committed to providing a fun, SAFE environment for everyone to shop and play. We will continue to monitor this evolving situation and adjust our policy as needed. Please watch our Facebook page for the latest developments in our response to the outbreak.
Thank you for your patronage. We value you all and look forward to continuing to offer the perfect venue for your imagination and enjoyment.
Best regards, The Soldiery Games & Cards Management Team
